Work on WordPress locally

Get your site onto your own computer with cubli pull, try a theme or plugin on it and send your wp-content to staging.

With the CLI you get a WordPress site from Cubli onto your own computer, with all its files and the database. There it runs in Docker, as on Cubli. So you can try a theme or plugin without touching your live site.

What is new

  • cubli pull in an empty folder gets the whole site: WordPress, your wp-content and the database.
  • cubli dev starts it on your computer, at http://localhost:8080. No mail leaves this copy.
  • cubli push --staging sends your local wp-content to staging, so you can look at it there.

Why

Changing a theme or trying a plugin on your live site is nerve-racking. On your own computer nothing can go wrong.

How it works

  1. Get the site: cubli pull --project <id> --service wordpress.
  2. Start it: cubli dev.
  3. Done? Send your files to staging: cubli push --staging.

You need the CLI, signed in, and Docker on your computer.
